Lawmakers draw attention of govt over recent incidents of acid attacks on girls

Referring to the recent incident of acid attack on a schoolgirl in Birgunj, Mahato said that Province 2 has witnessed frequent incidents of acid attack in recent times. The lawmakers' statement comes two days after the acid attack on 15-year-old Salma Khatun in Birjung by two local youths when she was going to her school. Khatun, who suffered burn injuries, has been undergoing treatment at Kirtipur Hospital in Kathmandu.

Government's investment in education sector should be result-oriented: President

Stating that socio-economic transformation, employment and technology, good conduct, and research-oriented education are the need of the day, the president expressed the hope that the ongoing reforms in policies would help enhance the quality of education in the country. NC urges govt to bring plans to control Dengue outbreak

Speaking at the House of Representatives, NC lawmaker Pushpa Bhusal asked the government to prepare the concrete action plan in order to control Dengue outbreak and submit it to the Parliament. Speaking at the zero hour of the parliament, Bhusal expressed concern over the  Dengue outbreak across the country. "Now the country is struggling with the biggest ever dengue outbreak. The government has failed to bring the Dengue under the control even though thousands of people have been affected by the disease."

Boeing suspends load test for new 777X aircraft

Boeing Co on Saturday announced it had suspended load testing of its new widebody 777X aircraft as media reports said a cargo door failed in a ground stress test. “During final load testing on the 777X static test airplane, the team encountered an issue that required suspension of the test,” Boeing spokesman Paul Bergman said in a statement.

Mugabe to be buried next Sunday

Former Zimbabwe president Robert Mugabe is expected to be buried next Sunday, state media reported. Mugabe, an ex-guerrilla leader who became the southern African country’s first leader following independence from white minority rule in 1980 and held on to power until he was forced to resign in 2017, died in Singapore on Friday.
