Sindhupalchowk reports being Corona-free district

SINDHUPALCHOWK, July 28: Sindhupalchowk district where two persons have already succumbed to the coronavirus disease, reported being Corona free on Monday.

According to Senior Public Health Officer, Durgadutta Chapagain, all 63 COVID-19 patients in the district have returned home after recovery. “We don’t have any active cases of COVID-19 for now.”

The district had witnessed the first case of COVID-19 on April 13. The infected was a female from Barabise Rural Municipality who later died of COVID-19, becoming the first COVID-19 death case of Nepal.

Sindhupalchowk has witnessed 67 cases of COVID-19 so far including two death cases. Most of the infected people were foreign-returnees. Twenty-six migrant workers from India, 15 from Kuwait, and one each from Qatar, Dubai and Saudi Arabia tested positive for COVID-19.

Similarly, 15 people returned home from Kathmandu, Bara, Syangja, Bhojpur and Dolakha and six people within the district also tested positive for COVID-19.

According to the district administration office, 1,504 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests were conducted in Sindhupalchowk out of which test results of 65 individuals are awaited.

As of Monday, 44 individuals are staying in various quarantine facilities across the district.
