KATHMANDU, June 18: The much-hyped Socialist Front is scheduled to be officially announced on Monday with the main priority being the establishment of socialism provided by the constitution.

Various political parties including CPN (Maoist Centre), CPN (Unified Socialist), Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal and CPN led by Netra Bikram Chand held a meeting at the Prime Minister's Residence Baluwatar and agreed on the formation of the Socialist Front.

A special function will be held at the National Assembly House on Monday to announce the Socialist Front. According to the leader of Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal, Rajendra Shrestha, who participated in the meeting, necessary agreement was reached about the Socialist Front and its minimum program in today's meeting.

Attempts to form a Socialist Front had been made for a long time. Vice Chairman of CPN (Maoist Center) Krishna Bahadur Mahara had been continuously communicating with various political parties about this. 

Today's meeting was attended by top leaders from all the parties that have agreed to form the Socialist Front. The meeting also decided the minimum program of the front.

It is said that Nepal Samajwadi Party led by Dr Baburam Bhattarai will also join the Front. An agreement has already been reached in the meeting between Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Chairman Bhattarai.
