SOLUKHUMBU, Nov 21: With the federal parliamentary and provincial elections just five days away, the denizens of Tingla village in the district have decided not to participate in the upcoming f elections.

The locals of Tingla village are up in arms demanding that Tingla VDC be merged with Solu-Dudhkunda Municipality after their village was annexed to the Necha Salyan Rural Municipality while restructuring the local units.

Even though Solu-Dudhkunda Municipality is ready to include Tingla VDC, the government is not listing to their demand, forcing them to boycott the upcoming elections.

This is not the first time they are boycotting the elections, they did not take part even in the local level elections, too. Tingla VDC has 2, 575 voters.

Social worker of Tingla village Babu Kaji Karki is standing with ‘No Vote’ motion after the demand of his villagers fell on deaf ears.

“Locals of Tingla village will not take part in the upcoming elections after our demand was not addressed by the state. The majority of the villages are against the upcoming elections,” he said.

They have also formed a committee led by Gyan Bahadur Rai in a bid to merge Tingla village with Solu-Dudhkunda Municipality.

The committee now is launching a ‘No Vote’ campaign, stating that it will be an injustice to include Tingla village in Necha Salyan Rural Municipality arguing that it is far away from their village.
