Westerly wind likely to bring rain from late this afternoon

KATHMANDU, Feb 17: Most parts of the country today have partly cloudy sky due to the impact of westerly wind, and thundershowers have been predicted at one or two places of the western region late this afternoon, the Meteorological Forecasting Division. 

Though this morning witnessed a slight improvement in the weather with sunshine, rain is forecast to recur from tomorrow, Monday. According to meteorologist Manju Basi, the new system of westerly wind is entering Nepal from Monday morning, bringing light to moderate rains in most of the parts with light snowfall at some places. 

Sky throughout Sunday night will mainly remain clear, but there are chances of becoming partly cloudy in the western hilly region with the probability of occurrence of brief rain and thundershowers in few places. 

Similarly, there will be partly cloudy in the western and eastern regions, while a few places in the western hilly parts and one or two places in the eastern hilly districts are likely to have light thundershowers, the Division said. 

On Monday, there will be generally cloudy in the western part of Nepal with the chances of light rainfall at some places. The Division's latest details measured the maximum temperature of the Kathmandu Valley at 20.3 degree Celsius and the minimum at 4.6 degree Celsius. 

Likewise, the temperature in Jumla dropped to minus. Biratnagar recorded the minimum 27 degree Celsius, the highest across the country.
