With 72 new cases, Nepal’s COVID-19 tally spikes to 675

KATHMANDU, May 25: As many as 72 new cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were detected on Monday morning, taking Nepal’s COVID-19 national tally to 675. 

According to the latest updates by the Ministry of Health and Population, three patients each in Nagarain Municipality-3 of Dhanusha, Shivraj Municipality-4, 5 and 6 of Kapilvastu and Tokha Municipality-3 and 6 and Budhanilkantha Municipality in Kathmandu districts were diagnosed with this disease. 

Rautahat district alone has reported 27 new cases. Male patients from the district’s Rajpur Farhadawa-2, 6 and 8 and Ishnath-2 tested positive for this virus, according to Dr Samir Kumar Adhikari, joint spokesperson for the ministry. 

As many as 23 new cases were detected in Bara district - 21 in Gadhimai Municipality alone and two in Kalaiya Municipality and Kotwali-1. 

Similarly, seven patients from Dailekh (Gurans Rural Municipality, Narayan Municipality and Dhaneshwar Rural Municipality), four in Banke’s Duduwa and Rapti Sonari rural municipalities, two patients in Saptari (Dakneshwari Municipality) and one in Basadhi-9 of Bardiya district are the newly-confirmed cases of COVID-19.
