KATHMANDU, July 17: UCPN (Maoist) plenum scheduled for Monday has been deferred for Tuesday following the news of tragic bus accidents at various places in which at least three Maoist cadres have died and several others have been injured. All of the dead and injured Maoist cadres were heading toward Kathmandu to participate in the plenum.
Maoist spokesperson Dinanath Sharma informed that the plenum will start from Tuesday morning.
“Our party´s state and district committee members have been killed and injured in the accidents,” said Bishwabhakta Dulal, coordinator of the publicity sub-committee for the plenum. According to Dulal, most of them were victims of the accidents that took place in Sunwal of Nawalparasi and Krishna Bheer of Dhading.
Dulal informed that Maoist state committee members Anant Adhikari died and Deepak Chaudhary has been missing in the accident at Trishuli River.
According to Dulal, state committee members Sharu BK, Mitra, Kshitiz, Shikhar, Himshikhar, Prashant, Nayaram Thapa, Ain Bahadur Kathayat, Chhabi Subedi and district committee members Top Bahadur Khaptadi and Sachindra Shahi have been injured. Likewise, former People´s Liberation Army company commanders Binu Bantawa Rai, Rajan Baraili, Mira Karki have been injured.
“All the injured comrades are out of danger and receiving treatment at Bir Hospital,” said Dulal.
Around 5,000 party cadres are expected to participate in the 5-day plenum that will discuss the political documents of the party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and leaders Sonam Sathi and Ram Karki. Some Madhes-based party central committee members are also set to present their political document at the plenum.
