KATHMANDU, Aug 9: Nepali U-19 team is all set to participate in the ICC U-19 World Cup 2012 that kicks off in Brisbane, Australia on Saturday. It will be Nepal’s sixth appearance in the U-19 World Cup.

The Nepali team -- led by Prithu Baskota and coached by Pubudu Dassanayake -- will take on host Australia in its first match of the World Cup on Monday. Republica takes a look back at Nepal’s participation in the ICC U-19 World Cup over the years.

  • 295/5 scored by South Africa in Sri Lanka in 2000 is the highest score against Nepal by any team.
  • Nepal had scored only 74 runs against West Indies in the plate championship final in 2008. It is Nepal’s lowest total in the U-19 World Cup.
  • 234/8 scored against Ireland in 2006 is Nepal’s highest total against any opponent.
  • Zimbabwe had beaten Nepal by 137 runs in the plate final in 2002. It is the biggest loss of Nepal in terms of runs.
  • Nepal had defeated Zimbabwe by 99 runs in the plate quarterfinal of the 2008 World Cup. It is Nepal’s biggest victory in terms of runs.
