  Police thrashes Dhankuta 14-0

KATHMANDU, July 20: Nepal Police Club and Kailali advanced into the quarterfinals of the Ncell National Women´s Football Championship on Friday winning their respective matches.

Nepal Police thrashed Dhankuta 14-0 while Kailali registered 3-1 victory over Morang.

In the match played at Simara, six goals from Chandra Bhandari and five goals from Neeru Thapa gave Police the comprehensive 14-0 victory over Dhankuta. Thapa opened the score for Police in the 20th minute and doubled the score in 23rd minute. Rupa Magar scored another goal in the 35th minute to give a 3-0 lead to Police by the half time.

In the second half, Police dominated the game and scored 11 goals. Bhandari´s six goals came in the second half as she scored in the 49th, 53rd, 55th, 62nd, 74th and 82nd minutes. Thapa also completed her hat-trick with goals in the 60th, 71st and 75th minutes. Sapana Limbu and Menuka Giri scored in the 59th and 88th minutes. Police will meet the host Bara in Monday´s quarterfinal.

In another match held at Chandranigahapur, a hat-trick from Nira Sunuwar fixed Kailali´s place in the quarterfinals. Sunuwar scored in the 40th minute to give 1-0 lead to Kailali by half time. Morang´s Indira Rai scored in the 54th minute to level the score. Sunuwar added two more goals in the 66th and 74th minutes to seal victory for Kailali.

Jhapa will play against Dolakha and Dhanusa faces Armed Police Force Club at Chandranigahapur while Kaski will lock horns against Tribhuvan Army Club at Simara on Saturday.
