PM urges market monitoring, smooth supplies

REPUBLICA

KATHMANDU, Aug 21: The Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai has directed concerned officials to ensure effective monitoring and smooth supplies of daily essential commodities in the market.

His instructions came during a meeting with high ranking government officials including Chief Secretary Lila Mani Poudel in the run up to major festivals in the country.

A statement issued by the Prime Minister´s Office on Tuesday said the PM directed the officials to control black marketeering and artificial shortage of goods, and minimize the inconsistancies in public transportation.

He also urged the officials to formulate a work plan to eliminate the possible shortage of commodities during the festivals. Government officials expressed commitment to launch effective market monitoring campaign immediately.
