Fishtail chopper crashes in Humla

SIMIKOT, June 19: A Fistail Air helicopter bound for Simikot from Hilsa of Humla district crashed on the Karnali riverbank late Wednesday afternoon, leaving three passengers seriously injured, police said.

According to police inspector Yubraj Chaudhary at the Humla district police office, the chopper crashed at 4:25 pm at Tumkot, Muchu VDC-4 of the district. There were six people on board—one Italian pilot and five Nepali passengers. [More]

	Kalikot is open defecation free Remote Kalikot has been declared the first open defecation free district in Karnali. With active participation of the local residents, toilets have been constructed in each household of all the 30 VDCs of the district. It took four years of campaign to achieve this after the first initiation was taken in Jimjedi of Badalkot VDC in 2009. Reports said that the local villagers danced Deuda and Hudke, different dance forms, during a ceremony to declare the title.

EC announces six-month timeline for CA poll

KATHMANDU, June 18: Four days after the Interim Election Council announced November 19 as the date for polls for electing a new Constituent Assembly (CA), the Election Commission (EC) has issued a six month timeline for holding the fresh election.

According to Chief Election Commissioner Neel Kantha Uprety, a meeting of the constitutional body held at its central office in the capital Tuesday approved a 25-point “Constituent Assembly Election Timeline 2070”. [More]

KATHMANDU, June 19: Eighteen people have been killed and over 14 missing in floods and landslides in several parts of the western region on Tuesday.

The torrential downpour that lashed the country for the last three days also incurred a huge loss of properties, rendering thousands of people homeless. According to the Home Ministry, 18 people have been confirmed killed. The ministry also said the death toll could increase. [More]
