ITAHARI, Sept 24: A couple died in an accident on Thursday. The couple were heading towards Dhankuta from Itahari after hearing the death of their relative.
Sixty-five years old Bishwaraj Nepal and his wife, Sita Nepal, 60, from Itahari-1 were severely injured when the microbus crushed them after they jumped out of the vehicle as soon as the driver shouted that the brakes of the vehicle have failed.
The rest of the passengers traveling by the microbus have received minor injuries.
Meanwhile, a six-year-old boy died when he was hit by a tipper on the Birgunj-Pathalaiya road Thursday morning.
The boy is identified as Ganesh Kumar Rauniyar of Jeetpur-3, Bara district. He was hit by a tipper with registration number Na 4 Kha 146 that was heading towards Birgunj.
Police have taken the driver and the vehicle under control. The locals had obstructed the highway after the accident calling for compensation.
It was opened later after the third party insurance company agreed to pay compensation to the parents of the deceased, the District Traffic Police Office, Parsa said.
Similarly, in Rautahat, at least 30 passengers were injured when the bus they were traveling in met with an accident near Chandranigahapur in Rautahat Thursday morning.
Many among the injured are children.
The bus with registration number Ba 2 Kha 2718 hit a parked truck on the road at about 3:45 am today. The bus was going towards Sindhuli from Banepa.
Fifteen passengers who received serious injuries have been taken to Birgunj for treatment. Police said the bus was carrying more than 50 passengers.
Both the truck and the bus fell down from the road after the accident. Four people who were trapped in the bus were rescued by a team of the Armed Police Force.
