  Officials destroy 1000 chickens brought from India

HETAUDA, Sept. 24: The District Livestock Service Office, Makwanpur has destroyed 1,000 chickens brought illegally from India.

Employees of the District Livestock Service Office buried the chickens in a ditch at the office premises in the presence of police, representatives of the poultry business firms and journalists.

The chickens had been smuggled in from India. They were confiscated by policemen at Ratmate Police post from a jeep coming towards Hetauda from Birgunj.

The driver and the jeep have been taken under control by the police.

The government has banned any import of chicken from India fearing bird flu
