KATMANDU, Sept 25: Nepali Congress (NC) chairman Girija Prasad Koirala and Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Friday said the political deadlock will end soon in separate programs.
Koirala said the deadlock will end after Tihar festival in his residence at Biratnagar while Dahal too said similar thing at Gaidakot of Nawalparasi. On Thursday, Koirala and Dahal had talked over telephone on political issues.
Both leaders said that the telephone talk opened the avenue for new consensus.
According to RSS, Dahal said that the Maoists are ready to work with Nepali Congress and CPN-UML on civilian supremacy.
Talking briefly to journalists at Gaidakot of Nawalparasi on his way back to Kathmandu from Rolpa, Dahal said efforts were on to find a consensus from a new angle. He, however, said there can’t be any agreement against civilian supremacy and that the president’s ‘unconstitutional’ move must be rectified.
Talking about Thursday´s telephone talks with Koirala and UML secretary general Ishwar Pokharel, he said efforts were on the way in the bid to find consensus and cooperation.
He said unity among the parties was a must to save the country from meeting with the possible accident.
Meanwhile, while talking to journalists at Ratnanagar of Chitwan, Dahal said Thursday´s tripartite telephone conversation had created base for new political consensus.
He said the talks had infused hopes among the common people. He said he had talked to Koirala and fresh initiative for consensus will be launched once he reaches Kathmandu.
He said consensus must be reached by October 7 or else the government will collapse, budget will not be passed and there will be a constitutional crisis in the country.
He said new understanding will be reached on the basis of 12-point understanding and the comprehensive peace agreement.
The Maoist chair said Maoists were fighting for civilian supremacy and anybody who stands against it will be wiped out.
He also said nobody should obstruct army integration and peace process. He warned that it would be foolish if anybody thought to control people by using the army. He said he was committed to peace process and it could be taken to a logical conclusion if everybody cooperated.
