  HIV cases in Nawalparasi on rise

PARASI, Sept 28: The number of HIV patients in Nawalparasi is on the rise.

So far 151 HIV patients have been identified in the district. Of the HIV-infected people, 64 are women and 87 men. Of them. Nine are children below 13, according to Lumbini Plus, an NGO working in the sector.

Of those who had come into contact with the NGO, 12 men and 10 women have died of the disease, according to the NGO’s Nirmala Poudel. Mostly men who go to abroad for work return with HIV and transmit it to their women in the district, she said. The NGO has been rehabilitating 13 HIV-infected persons
