Darkness in Dailekh bazar after transformer explodes

REPUBLICA

KATHMANDU, Sept 28: Darkness has descended on Dailekh bazar with power supply remaining disrupted for the second consecutive day, according to Avenues TV.

The disruption was caused after a transformer in Latali forest between Dailekh and Surkhet districts exploded Sunday morning.

Since most of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) employees have gone on holidays due to Dashain festival, the transformer has not been repaired yet.

What has compounded the problem, according to locals of Dailekh bazar, is that the local NEA office chief, Anirudh Prasad Singh, has taken the office vehicle to go to his home in Siraha district.

The site of the blast in the forest is some 48 hours of walk time from the NEA office
