KATHMANDU, Oct 9: Nepal Tae-Kwan-Do Association, on Friday, selected 30 players in the first phase for the national training camp of the 11th South Asian Games. Medal winner of the 10th SAG, Dipak Bista, Manita Shahi and Aayasha Shakya, were directly picked up for the final selection while others will face two rounds of selection matches.


Association has called gold and silver medal winners of the Fifth National Games and Fourth Korean Ambassador National Championship and 10th SAG´s participants for the first round selection matches.



Yam Kumari Chaulagain, Sangita Shrestha, Tara Ghimire, Sabina Maharjan, Ritu Maden, Laxmi Rana, Apsara Karki, Laxmi Thapa, Sangita Basyal, Mira Kafle are selected in different category of women. Likewise, Nischal Man Shrestha, Yam Bahadur Pun, Ganesh Khadka, Ashis Maharjan, Anoj Pujari, Om Kumar Moktan, Dan Bahadur Aire, Pitambar Upreti and Bharat Bohara were picked up in several men´s category.

Similarly, Ramesh Kumar Shrestha, Dambar Narayan Chaudhary, Gopal Chauhan, Hem Jung Raut, Shankar Gurung, Ramji Dahal, Badri Nath Basnet and Ajay Nepali also secured their berth for the first round training.

SAG is being held in Bangladesh´s capital Dhaka from January 29, 2010.


Buddha Air´s anniversary games

KATHMANDU, Oct 9: Buddha Air´s operation department won the airlines´ 12th anniversary inter-departmental football cup by defeating the engineering department 1-0 in the final round on Friday.

A goal by Siddhartha Bahadur Singh at ANFA´s technical center in the beginning of the second half became the deciding goal as no other goal was scored in the match. Singh scored a total of seven goals in the tournament and was declared the highest scorer while Chappan Lal Rajbanshi of the engineering department bagged the Best Player award.

Buddha Air´s Independent Workers´ Union and sports department had organized football, basketball and volleyball matches. The sports department in-charge AG Sherpa informed that bowling will be held on Saturday.

All the winners except that of football will be awarded during the airlines´ anniversary on Sunday.
