LAHAN, Oct 14: Armed dacoits took an entire village under control and looted Rs 2.5 million worth valuables on Tuesday night.
The gang of about 35 dacoits overpowered locals Tetriyatole at Jamdaha-4, Siraha, and carried out the looting, villagers said. The village is located some three kilometers north of the East-West Highway.
Villagers complained that police and armed police stationed three kilometers from the village did not arrive for help, while the dacoits carried out the looting for three hours. Panchu Thapa and Kailash Thapa were injured while retaliating to the dacoits, police said.
