KATHMANDU, Oct 26: A differently-abled person has been inducted into the National Sports Council (NSC), the apex sports regulating body of the nation.

Nepal Paralympic Committee President Deepak Koirala, a visually-impaired person, has been nominated a board member of the NSC on Monday. Koirala has been nominated on behalf of associations.


The Paralympic Committee is the only representative agency working for the development of sports for the differently- abled people. The committee affiliated with the NSC and the Ministry of Youth and Sports has been working in this sector for last 13 years. The committee was registered as the 38th association of the NSC.

Koirala has been nominated for four years as per the Sports Development Act.

“I will raise voice for the development of differently-abled sports,” Koirala said.


NSC dissolves regional and districts committees

KATHMANDU, Oct 26: National Sports Council dissolved all District Sports Development Committees on Monday. NSC had dissolved all the five regional committees on Sunday.

NSC issuing a press statement declared that all the committees are dissolved under the provision of article 10,b of Sports Development Regulations.


Badminton team off to Malaysia

KATHMANDU, Oct 26: A Nepali badminton team left Kathmandu for Malaysia to participate in the BWF World U-19 Badminton Championship on Monday.

Ranjit Tamang, Sajan Krishna Tamrakar, Bibek Shrestha and Bhugol Gurung are the players who will compete on boys´ singles in the tournament being held in the Malaysian city of Kedah from October 28. Udaya Kumar Shrestha is team coach for the team.

After the tournament, all the players will participate in the BAC World Junior Training Camp scheduled to be held in Malaysia from November 3 to 17.
