BIRATNAGAR, Oct 28: Nobel Medical College has been shut down due to financial dispute between the promoters of the college.
Persons loyal to Sunil Sharma padlocked the college Wednesday following a dispute with his partner Dr Gyanendraman Singh Karki after Sharma deposited Rs 140 million collected from admission of 70 students in the last academic session in his personal account.
“Sharma provoked students and got the college padlocked after I asked him to deposit the money in the college´s account,” claimed Dr Karki, who is a 50 per cent shareholder of the college. Organizing a press conference, Dr Karki, who is also the chairman of the college, said he cannot work with Sharma anymore. “I am ready to relinquish my stake if Sharma returns my investment or I will pay Sharma off his share,” Karki added.
The college has been in controversy due to dispute among promoters and Dr Gyanendra Giri had quit after problems with Sharma. Sharma could not be reached for comments.
An all-party meeting has been called for Thursday to resolve the issue.
