POKHARA, Oct 31: Different donors from the United Kingdom have provided a support of about Rs Rs 1.98 million to the Sahara Club of Pokhara to build the Sahara Academy. The support was handed over to the club amidst a function in Pokhara on Saturday.


Those who provided the support are Pokhara Academy Children Trust, UK (Rs 930,000), Cookham Bridge Rotary, UK ( Rs 550,000), Isa Baldini in memory of her deceased husband Marco Baldini (Rs 200,000), and Nabin Gurung, Muchetra Gurung and Dilip Gurung (Rs 100,000 each).

Sahara Club president Bikram Thakali said the support has further encouraged them to build the Academy. He said the construction will cost Rs 12.4 million.


BUC honor former players

KATHMANDU, Oct 31: Boys Union Club (BUC), the first division outfit of Nepal on Saturday honored its five former players including Bigyanraj Sharma. Sharma, also the former player of the national squad was honored following his promotion to the post of Deputy Inspector General of the Nepal Police.



President of the club Arun Baidya and others feted the players during a program. Others honored in the program were former player of the club Sushil Barsingh Thapa, All Nepal Football Association general secretary Dhirendra Pradhan, former captain Bidur Bista and the first FIFA referee of Nepal Rameshwar Rawat.

Meanwhile, the captain of the club Bijay Maharjan was awarded Rs 20,000. On the occasion the president Baidya also announced to hold the general assembly of the club within a month.


Archery team off to Vietnam

KATHMANDU, Oct 31: Nepali Archery team left for Vietnam on Saturday to participate in the Third Asian Indoor Sports being held there.

Prem Prasad Pun, Jeet Bahadur Moktan, Asim Sherchan and Ramesh Bhattachan will represent Nepali archery team in the tournament. They will participate in the individual and group event in the 18 m contest.
