KATHMANDU, Nov 6: Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala has proposed to the agitating UCPN (Maoist) to look for a ´middle way´ out of the current political deadlock.
Koirala made the proposal at his meeting with Maoist Vice-Chairman Dr Babu Ram Bhattarai at his residence at Maharajgunj on Friday afternoon.
According to Dr Bhattarai´s official website (www.baburambhattarai.com), Koirala proposed the finding of a mid-way point acceptable to both the Maoists and the ruling parties. "We have together brought the peace process to this stage. We should work together moving foward. Else, the country will plunge into mayhem," the website quoted Koirala as saying.
On the occasion, Dr Bhattarai said that the Maoists were ready to find a ´middle way´ to resolve the problem. The duo have agreed to discuss possible alternatives at the next round of their meeting.
Dr Bhattarai had reiterated that their demand over the president´s move needed to be addressed in one way or the other to resolve the political deadlock.

Koirala Proposes Middle Way To End Political Deadlock
It´s one of the ironies that we will have to live with blighted history of being governed by such leaders without vision. Former prime minister GP Koirala´s comment ´We should work together moving foward. Else, the country will plunge into mayhem´ sounds utterly ridiculous, to say the least. For a country once regarded synonymous to peace, isn´t what we face today mayhem enough?
