SURKHET, Nov 7: Mugu has been facing food shortage due to flight delay at Birendranagar airport.
Planes have been unable to fly to the district for the past two weeks. The flight delay has also stranded passengers, who are flying on subsidized tickets, in Birendranagar.
According to Mugu Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the district has been reeling under food shortage.
Within the past one month, not a single flight has been able to transport food from Surkhet to Mugu, the district-based businessmen´s umbrella body said.
Earlier, Mugu locals had launched an agitation demanding subsidized air ticket and subsidized cargo of foodstuff once in a week. They later called off the protest following the assurance by the stakeholders to fulfill the demand.
