Woman losing husband, son in bus tragedy not told

SHER BAHADUR KC

BUTWAL, Nov 9: She had left her home in Chuda, Pyuthan on a tour of Delhi with her soldier husband and a four-year-old son. But the tragic bus accident on Sunday has ended lives of her beloved duo and left her bed-ridden at the emergency ward of Universal Medical College, Bhairahawa.

Tulasa Pun asked about her husband Man Bahadur and son Himal as soon as she regained consciousness leaving her relatives in a dilemma. They have falsely consoled her saying the duo is fine fearing that her condition may worsen if told truth at a stage when she can´t even speak properly.

"How long can we falsely console her?" asks Prem Bahadur GM, a relative attending her. She has received severe injuries in head and limbs and her family members have not been able to visit her as they are busy making arrangements for funeral rites of her husband and son.

All six injured persons receiving treatment at the hospital along with her are serious. Two of them can speak but four others can´t despite regaining consciousness. Chetkala Khanal of Gokhunga had left for Sandhikharka to seek treatment for her headache and has found herself at the hospital but not for her ailment. Her left hand is broken in three places and she has a wound on her back just below the waist.

Some have head injuries while others have broken backs and legs. Three of the 11 injured in the accident have been referred to capital Kathmandu.

Seventeen people were killed after the bus (Lu 1 Kha 3987) veered off a hilly road in Hansapur Village Development Committee of Arghakhanchi and plunged 800 feet down the road on Sunday morning.

The passenger bus that had left Gokhunga for Sandhikharka at 7 in the morning met with the accident at Lambhir of Lamrepani village in Hansapur-3 just 15 minutes later.
