LAHAN, Nov 14: UCPN (Maoist) cadres clashed with police personnel as the former greeted President Dr Ram Baran Yadav with black flags and chanted slogans against him upon his arrival at Sakhada Bhagwati Temple at Chhinnamasta VDC in Saptari district.
Police said the security personnel had to baton-charge at the Maoist cadres who held "aggressive demonstration" against the head of state outside the temple premises while he was entering the shrine.
Maoist district leader Umesh Yadav said six Maoist cadres sustained injuries during the clash with police.
After visiting the temple, Yadav left for eastern hilly district Okhaldhunga.
Maoists have been continuing their protests against the president, prime minister and ministers ever since UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal stepped down from the prime ministerial post on May 4 over a difference with the president after the head of state blocked Dahal´s decision to fire the then army chief Rookmangud Katawal.
