Matrika Yadav's Maoists close down Madhes

REPUBLICA

KATHMANDU, Nov 16: A Madhes closure announced by Matrika Yadav-led Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) has disrupted lives in Morang, Sunsari, Udayapur and Siraha on Monday.

According to Mithilesh Yadav, myrepublica.com’s Lahan correspondent, all vehicular movements have been disrupted on the East-West Highway. Also the markets are closed.

Our reporter from Udayapur, Maheshwar Chamling, said that lives at the district have been disrupted as educational institutions, factories, markets and transports are completely closed.

At Gaighat, the district headquarters, Maoist cadres have forced close-down of a few shops which were open in the morning. Market at Katari, Beltar and Rampur are also closed.

According to RSS, Maoist activists disrupted vehicular movement in Morang from early morning.

They resorted to traffic obstruction over the Birgunj row demanding release of their colleagues arrested for attacking the chief of Birgunj Customs Office.

Meanwhile, police arrested three cadres of Matrika Yadav on the charge of vandalizing public vehicles from Inaruwa, the district headquarters of Sunsari, according to RSS.

According to the police, the vandals who had taken to the street protesting the Special Security Plan and demanding release of their fellow cadres nabbed during the beating up of the employees of Birgunj Custom Office damaged half a dozen vehicles. It is said the arrested aka Sunil, Mausam and Shiba are the locals of Inaruwa.

Inaruwa Bazaar has turned tense and vehicular movement in the area has also come to a grinding halt after the vandalism, said the District Police Office, Inaruwa.
