Maoists, UML cadres clash in Taplejung

RSS

TAPLEJUNG, Nov 16: A Maoist was injured when UML and Maoist cadres clashed in Hangpang VDC of Taplejung on Monday.

Following the clash, Maoists have abducted four UML cadres.

The two sides clashed in Ward No 2 of the VDC. They had even exchanged fire by using country-made guns.

After the clash, Maoists have abducted local UML leaders Mohan Yakso, Nawaraj Yakso and two other cadres and took them towards an unknown location.

District police Office said it has been reported that the two sides are still clashing in the VDC. DSP Bimal Basnet said a police team is on the way to the village.

Maoist and UML cadres have been clashing in different villages of the district following a politicization of a dispute between teachers and students in Dhungesanghu VDC of the district a few days ago.

Local parties, journalists, rights activists and police administration have been holding talks on solving the dispute between the two parties and bringing the situation under control.
