KATHMANDU, Nov 17: Former prime minister and Nepali Congress (NC) President Girija Prasad Koirala´s health has improved and is scheduled to return home from Singapore on a regular flight on Sunday.
“The doctors here (Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore) confirmed he has lungs problem as was diagnosed by Nepali doctors,” said Deputy Prime Minister and the leader´s daughter Sujata Koirala over phone from Singapore.
Diagnosis could not complete on Tuesday for lack of bronchoscopy report which is expected on Wednesday, according to the octogenarian leader´s nephew Dr Shekhar Koirala. “But preliminary diagnosis is positive and he is comparatively much better now,” Dr Koirala said and added that doctors at the hospital in Singapore have added a medicine to the combination he was taking in Nepal.
The leader suffering from multifarious ailments, including that of lungs, had reached Singapore by an air ambulance on Saturday afternoon. Koirala was undergoing treatment at Martyr Gangalal National Heart Center after water accumulated in his lungs following a bout of cold and fever.
