BANEPA, Nov 19: District level chambers of commerce and industries have expressed dissatisfaction over the operations of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI).
On the eve of the FNCCI´s central regional meet here on Thursday, they have mainly blamed the present FNCCI leadership of giving high priority to corporate houses and associate members and disowning the district chambers.
“By including a provision of the appointment of regional chairman in the statute, the central leadership is trying to isolate district chambers,” said Mitra Raj Dawadi, president of Narayanghat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI), who is also one of the founders of FNCCI.
In the past, district and municipal chambers used to have direct access to FNCCI. But the new provision seeks them to approach the FNCCI through regional structure. “This shows that the central leadership is not willing to hear the concerns and problems of district level businessmen,” said Dawadi.
Dawadi and his team members from NCCI are in Banepa to attend the central regional gathering of business community that the FNCCI is organizing on Friday. The NCCI delegation also held serious discussions with the officials of Kavre Chambers of Commerce and Industry (KCCI).
On the occasion, Dawadi announced that if the regional gathering decided to form the regional committee, he would file his candidacy for the post of its president.
The visiting delegation of district and municipal chambers from the region also interacted with the officials of district chambers of Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Sindhupalchowk, Kavre and Dolakha and Dhulikhel Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
