KATHMANDU, Nov 20: Samakhushi English Boarding School (SEB) and Newton entered the final of senior boys´ category during the Ninth Annal Jyoti Volleyball Running Cup on Friday.


SEB defeated the hosts Annal Jyoti ´A´ 25-14, 25-10, 25-18 in straight sets while Newton ended the hopes of Gyanbigyan 25-16, 25-13, 25-8. Annal Jyoti ´A´ finished third.

In the mini boys´ event, Annal Jyoti ´A´ and Newton entered the final. Annal Jyoti ´A´ defeated Annal Jyoti ´B´ 23-25, 25-16, 25-9, 25-18 while Newton struggled past Gyanodaya 15-25, 27-29, 25-18, 15-12. Gyanodaya secured the third place.

In the girls´ section, Angel´s Hearts came third while Annal Jyoti and New Diamond entered the final.


Wins for Ananda Bhumi, Suryodaya in U-16 cricket

KATHMANDU, Nov 20: Ananda Bhumi School won the match against National Model Science School by three runs on Friday during the U-16 Inter School Kathmandu District Selection Cricket Tournament, 2066 held at the TU ground, Kirtipur.

National Model invited Ananda Bhumi to bat first after winning the toss. Ananda Bhumi set a target of 80 runs for National Model in 18.4 overs. Nimesh Kapali scored the highest 13 runs while Sandesh Pandey took the maximum four wickets in the match.

Ananda Bhumi were short of three runs as they scored 77 in 14.1 overs losing 10 wickets. Sandesh Pandey of Ananda Bhumi was declared the man of the match.

In another match of the day, Suryodaya defeated Ideal English School by eight wickets. Ideal English decided to bat first after they won the toss and scored 64 runs for six wickets in the regular 20 overs. Aseen Shrestha (not out) of Ideal English scored the highest 30 runs while Samip Bastola took the maximum 4 wickets.

In reply, Suryodaya were able to meet the target of 65 runs in 11.1 overs at the loss of two wickets. Unbeaten Nupur Pandey scored the maximum 35 runs for the winning team. Samip Bastola was declared the man of the match.
