KATHMANDU, Nov 21: The boy´s team of Samakhushi English Boarding School (SEB) and the girls´ team of New Diamond claimed the titles of the Ninth Annal Jyoti Volleyball Running Cup held at the court of Annal Jyoti School, Sunakothi on Saturday. Newton School won the final match in the mini boys´ category.


The boys´ team of SEB defeated Newton 25-23, 25-22, 25-19 in the final match. In the final of the girls´ category, New Diamond ousted hosts Annal Jyoti 25-9, 25-18, 25-17. Newton struggled past Annal Jyoti 23-25, 25-23, 20-25, 25-23 and 15-8 in a competitive match to claim the mini boys´ title.

Sherlal Poudel of SEB, Ramila Tandukar of New Diamond and Bhupal Rai of Annal Jyoti were declared the best players in the boys´, girls´ and mini boys´ categories respectively.


Nitten Memorial win girls´ football

KATHMANDU, Nov 21: Nitten Memorial School won the title of the Gurukul Girls´ Football Cup inter-school football tournament on Saturday.

Nitten defeated Toru Guheshwori 2-0 in the final played at the Goldhunga football ground. Srijana Khadka and Bijaya Karki scored one each in the first half of the game.

Bijaya was named the woman of the match while Binita Tamang of hosts Gurukul was awarded the best player of the tournament. St Joseph School got the fair play prize while hosts´ Swastika Karki was awarded the best goalkeeper of the tournament.


Suryodaya into U-16 cricket final

KATHMANDU, Nov 21: Suryodaya School entered the final of the ongoing U-16 Inter School Kathmandu District Selection Cricket Tournament on Saturday. Suryodaya thrashed Ananda Bhumi School by 69 runs to top group ´B´.

Batting first, Suryodaya compiled 138 runs losing their eight wickets in the limited 20 overs. Sachin Timalsina struck 45 while Nupur Pandey scored 35 for Suryodaya. In reply, Ananda Bhumi were all out for 69 in 18.5 overs. Man-of-the-match Nupur gave an all-round performance and took four wickets of Ananda Bhumi.

Suryodaya will take on New Lira School in the final on Sunday.
