KATHMANDU, Nov 28: The girls´ team of Valley Public A and the boys´ team of hosts Tungram International Academy (TIA) A won the titles of the Seventh TIA Akira Cup Basketball Championship on Saturday.


In the final match of the girls´ category, Valley Public A thrashed TIA A 25-15 and in the boys´ final TIA A defeated Valley Public 48-39. The boys´ team of LRI and the girls´ team of Mahendra Bhavan finished third.

The winners received cash prize of Rs 10,000 while the runners-up received Rs 5,000.


Lubhu win Namuna Running Shield Volleyball

KATHMANDU, Nov 28: Lubhu Secondary School defeated Mount Olive 25-8, 25-13, 25-18 in straight sets to claim the title of the Sixth Namuna Running Shield Volleyball Championship on Saturday.

The hosts Namuna English Secondary School finished third, beating Children Garden 29-17, 29-27.

Lubhu´s Santosh Rajthala was declared the best player.

In the teachers´ match, Mount Olive stood first, ousting Valley Public 25-16, 25-18. The hosts Namuna secured the third position in this category as well.


New Star in FECA Cup quarterfinals

KATHMANDU, Nov 28: New Star School entered the quarterfinals of the Fourth FECA Cup Inter School Football Championship on Saturday thrashing Mangal 9-0.

Sagar Chapagain scored a hat-trick for the winning team while Suman Dulal and Abishek Bishankhe netted two goals each. Umeed Khadka and Bishal Khadka both added a goal for New Star.

In another match, Manohara defeated Global 3-0. Sundar Ghimire scored two goals for Manohara while Sunil Lamsal scored one.

Cosmic will take on Orchid and Gothatar will face defending champions Nexus in Sunday´s matches.
