  Rajan fares badly, Rabi takes the lead

KATHMANDU, Nov 30: Rabi Khadka proved his consistency to take the lead on the second day of the Surya Nepal Western Open Golf Tournament being held at Himalayan Golf course, Pokhara. Khadka shot two over 75 to take two-stroke lead over Shiva Ram Shrestha going into the final round.


Khadka had a very steady performance on the front nine, made sole birdie on the sixth hole and did not drop any shot for a one-under 36. On the Back nine, he finished on two over-pars 39.

Shiva Ram, who was tied at fourth place after first day carded one-over 74 to climb up to the second place. Shiva Ram had a bad start dropping shot on the first hole but came back with a birdie on the second hole.

His ball found water on the par-5 fourth hole where he made a double bogey then he further dropped a shot on the next hole, and birdied the sixth and then again gave away a shot on the next hole.

He made steady pars on the eight and ninth for a front nine total of three-over 40. On the back nine, he dropped a shot on the par-5 12th hole but came back strong with birdies on hole 14th, 17th and 18th for a back nine total of two-under 34.

After the completion of 36 holes Rabi Khadka is on six-over 152 and Shiva Ram Shrestha on eight-over 154.

Surya Sharma had another round of 79 for total 12-over 158. Sharma is in the third position.

Overnight leader Rajan Thapa fared poorly, shot 12-over 85 and he is at fourth position with a total score of 159.

Amateur Rupak Acharya shot a round of seven-over 80 to lead the amateur field by 13 strokes over Pradeep Lama.

After the completion of 36 holes 20 professional made the cut for the final round and five amateur will join them.
