KATHMANDU, Feb 22: Host Angel´s Heart and Mount Glory on Wednesday advanced into the semifinals of junior boys´ basketball in the Second Angel´s Heart Sports Festival.
The host thrashed Greenfield 48-21 and Mount Glory edged past Him Rashmi School 16-10. In volleyball, Classic College entered the final defeating Apollo College in the semifinal held on Wednesday.
Wins for Vanasthali, New Zenith
KATHMANDU: Siddhartha Vanasthali and New Zenith on Wednesday registered victories in the Second Arunodaya Inter-school Basketball Tournament in the senior boys´ category. Siddhartha Vanasthali beat host Arunodaya 38-29 and New Zenith overcame Dallu School 33-20.
In the junior boys´ category, Mount Glory defeated The Excelsior 29-19 and Babylon beat Celebration Co-ed 35-30.
Shree Bageshwari, Everyday advance
KATHMANDU: Shree Bageshwari Youth Club, Chapa Gaoun and Everyday Football Club, Nakhipot advanced into the semifinal of the Sunakothi Cup Open Lalitpur District-wide Football Tournament being held in the capital. Shree Bageshwari defeated Samrat Youth Club, Dhapakhel 3-0 in tie breaker.
After the regular time ended in 2-2 score, the match was taken to additional time and it also ended in 1-1 draw.
The match was decided by tie breaker. In another match, Everyday thrashed Pragati Yuva Club, Dhapakhel 4-0. Binod Rai and Rajiv Gurung scored two goals each for the winning team.
Urlabari lifts DB Phuyal Gold Cup
ITAHARI: Urlabari Football Club, Morang won the title of the Sixth San Miguel Dan Bahadur Phuyal Gold Cup football tournament held in Itahari as it defeated Dhankuta Football Club 2-1 in the final on Wednesday. Man-of-the-match Bishal Rai and Karna Limbu scored a goal each for Urlabari to provide 2-0 lead at the end of the first half. Sudeep Limbu scored a goal in the second half for Dhankuta as the match ended at 2-1.
Winner Urlabari bagged Rs 55,000 while runner-up Dhankuta received Rs 25,000. Manish Gurung of Dhankuta was adjudged the best player of the tournament. He received a television set.
