KATHMANDU, March 13: Sri Lankan professional golfer Anura Rohana, the former winner of the Surya Nepal Masters, teamed up with LB Singh, Zom Ranga and Biresh Paul to win the Standard Chartered Pro-Am event of the Surya Nepal Masters 2012 at the Gokarna Forest Resort, Kathmandu on Tuesday.
The winning team scored 15-under 57 and clinched the Pro-Am title on a count-back of the last nine holes.
The team finishing second was led by none other than Nepal No 1 pro Shiva Ram Shrestha along with amateurs Charlie Gurung, Madhukar Yaktumba and Rekha Ghimire.
Meanwhile, the team of defending champion Rashid Khan and amateurs Rajendra Shreshta, Tendi Sherpa and Aditi Ghimire finished third at 57 points.
Tashi Tsering won the Longest Drive award on Hole No 3 while Rekha Ghimire won the Closest to Pin on Hole No 10. Aditi Ghimire walked away with the honors in the Straightest Drive contest held on Hole No 6.
Altogether 112 golfers teed off in the event played on a team scramble format.
Standard Chartered Bank CEO Joseph Silvanus, Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd Vice President, Marketing LB Singh and Nepal Professional Golfers Association President Rabindra Man Shreshta gave away the prizes to the winners.
