Maoist leader Sharma airlifted to Delhi for treatment

KATHMANDU, April 16: Senior Maoist leader Janardan Sharma was airlifted to New Delhi on Monday for medical treatment of Encephalitis.
An air ambulance flew Sharma, who had been receiving treatment at the TU Teaching Hospital for the last three days, to Delhi at 4.10 p.m.
“He has been admitted to Medanta Hospital at Gurgaon,” said Sharma´s personal secretary Basanta Raj Sharma.
Sharma has not been in good health for the last one month and he was admitted to the hospital when his condition deteriorated three days ago. Sharma was elected from constituency no 2 of Rukum under first-past-the-post during the Constituent Assembly (CA) elections.
“He had fever when he was admitted to TUTH on Saturday. He has been in semi-conscious state since Sunday,” said Dr Shashi Sharma.
The doctors are yet to identify the type of Encephalitis Sharma is afflicted with, and that has made the treatment difficult.
Dr Sharma said that he referred the patient to New Delhi for quick medical tests and treatment.
Sharma is accompanied by his wife Laxmi, younger brother Anil and relative K P Sharma. His latest condition after getting admitted to the hospital in India are yet to be known
