Thorny issues will be settled soon: Sitaula

REPUBLICA

BIRATNAGAR, April 18: Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula on Wednesday said that the disputed issues in constitution writing would be resolved by April 22.

He claimed the new constitution will be promulgated within the May 27 deadline.

Talking to the media persons at Biratnagar airport, Sitaula said, “The major tasks of the peace process have been accomplished, so there will be consensus in the remaining tasks of the peace process and disputed issues in constitution writing.”

He also added that the parties have reached close to consensus on thorny issues like the system of governance, electoral system and judiciary. Sitatula stated that there will be six to eight states in the federal map of the country.
