DHANKUTA, April 24: UCPN (Maoist) politburo member Haribol Gajurel on Tuesday accused the faction led by party senior Vice-Chairman Mohan Baidya of spreading anarchy.
“The Baidya faction proposed Baburam Bhattarai for the post of the prime minister but they are staging protests to spread anarchy,” said Gajurel at a press meet in Dhankuta.
He said the Baidya faction has been staging protests against the four-point agreement between the UCPN (Maoist) and the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) as they did not get the minister portfolios of their choice.
Gajurel said the establishment faction does not want to take action against the Baidya faction saying unity in the party is still possible. “If we take action against them, the party will split the peace and the constitution writing process will derail,” Gajurel added.
He claimed that his party has given a new direction to the peace process by allowing the Nepal Army to take control of the Maoist cantonments, combatants and arms.
