REPUBLICA

KATHMANDU, April 24: CG Impex is introducing LG Optimus 3D Max - a 3D smartphone - by the first week of May. The new handset features glasses free 3D screen, enabling users to enjoy 3D videos with using glasses.

The company, which represents LG consumer electronics in Nepal, believes the new handset will strengthen the lineup of LG smartphones in the market and help it enhance market penetration. LG Optimus 3D Max is priced at Rs 60,000.

“It will be the first 3D smartphone in Nepal. This new device will change the scenario of LG mobiles in Nepal,” Ramesh Shrestha, general manager of CG Impex.

LG currently enjoys 15 percent share in country´s mobile market. “We plan to have 40 percent share in country´s smartphone market within a year,” said Shrestha.

CG Impex is currently marketing nine LG smartphone models.

LG Optimus 3D MAX is powered by 1.2 GHz dual-core processor. It runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS which can be upgraded to Android 3.1 Ice Cream Sandwich. The new set has 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage capacity and expandable memory up to 32GB. It has 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen, 3D Full Wide Video Graphics Array (WVGA) display with Corning Gorilla Glass 2, 5 MP rear camera and VGA front camera on the front.

“We plan to sell 250 units of 3D Max within a year of launch,” Shrestha said, adding: “The 3D Max doesn´t have any competitor in the market as it is the first and only 3D smartphone in Nepal.”

LG Optimus 3D Max has unique features like 3D hot key on the side of the device which makes it easier for users to switch between 3D and 2D modes. The set also has a 3D converter that converts 2D content from Google Earth, Maps and other mapping applications into 3D. It also has 3D video editor which allows 3D video editing on the device itself.

Likewise, it has High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) port which gives up to 1080p video output in both 2D and 3D modes. It can also share 3D content easily to 3D TV or Monitor by the help of Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA).
