KATHMANDU, April 25: National Photo Journalists Group has taken out morning rally to mark photo journalism day on Wednesday.

The rally that marched through Bhadrakali, Martyr´s Gate, Sundhara and New Road converged into a corner meet. ´Photo Journalism for Credible Journalism´ has been set the slogan of the day this year.

On the occasion, senior photo journalist Gopal Chitrakar and Chairperson of Kathmandu Cycle City-2020 Sahel Shrestha were honored and provided with token of love.

Journalist Chitrakar said success could be attained if a journalist propels his/her works considering journalism as their professional ethics being not affiliated to any political parties, adding that the effective role of journalism is indispensable to sustain democracy.

Group Chairperson Rabindra Man Shakya urged all journalists to cover news based on the factual events rather not on the basis of prejudices.

The Kathmandu Cycle City-2020 also staged cycle rally on the occasion.

Baisakh 13 (April 25) is marked as the photo journalism day as file photo was first published in the Gorkhapatra on the same day in 1984 BS in the history of Nepali journalism.
