KATHMANDU, April 25: Family of a woman missing for nearly two months from the heart of the capital city have accused the police of not carrying out investigations effectively to find her.
Chorimaiya Maharjan, 51, a resident of Jaisidewal, Kathmandu, said she was going to meet her friend Surakshya Singh aka Nikki on February 28 and hasn´t been heard from since.
“Police has shown least interest to locate the whereabouts of our mother,” Sudha Maharjan told a press conference in the capital Wednesday in an effort to create pressure on the police to step up their investigations.
Sudha said the family had been visiting Hanumandhoka police office everyday but are unable to get any progress report.
The family filed a missing person´s report on February 29 and say they believe she was abducted and Nikki was the main person behind the abduction.
“We are seriously carrying out investigation and recording statements of Nikki,” said one police officer at Metropolitan Police Range, Hanumadhoka.
