KATHMANDU, April 28: Japanese Foreign Minister Koichiro Gemba is arriving in Kathmandu on Saturday on a two-day official visit marking the first ever visit by any Japanese foreign minister in the past 35 years.
According a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Gemba is due to meet President Dr Ram Baran Yadav, Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Narayankaji Shrestha on Sunday. He is also meeting leaders of various political parties during his stay in Kathmandu.
“The visit is taking place in the context of the recent high level bilateral visits and will provide an opportunity to review the progress in the relations between the two countries,” the ministry said in the statement issued on Friday.
