KATHMANDU, April 29: Former minister Chiranjivi Wagle who was convicted on corruption charges has been released from Dillibazaar jail after completing his term on Sunday.
Supreme Court had charged Wagle one-and-a-half jail term and penalty of Rs 20.3 million in February, 2011.
Wagle surrendered himself before the court after being convicted. His penalty was reduced by 20 percent. As per legal provisions, if a convict surrenders to the authority within 60 days of the court verdict, he is entitled to a 20 percent cutback on the jail term and penalty.
Wagle had become the first former minister to be sent to jail after being convicted of graft in February, 2011.
