Shrestha, Bogati to continue as ministers in new cabinet

REPUBLICA

KATHMANDU, May 4: A Standing Committee meeting of the establishment faction of the UCPN (Maoist) on Friday has decided to send outgoing Deputy Prime Minister Narayankaji Shrestha and Minister for Energy Post Bahadur Bogati to the government once again.

According to Bogati, who is also the party secretary, their names may be withdrawn if the rebel faction of the Maoist party led by Senior Vice-chairman Mohan Baidya decided to join the new cabinet.

When asked about the portfolio they would get, Boagati said, "All will depend on the discussion with the Nepali Congress and the CPN (UML), but we urge that we be given the same portfolios as this cabinet is only for a short period."

Asked whether Maoist leaders Barshaman Pun and Top Bahadur Rayamajhi would also be given ministerial portfolios, Bogati said, "Decision on the names of other ministers will be taken later."
