Fire gutted five houses in Dhankuta

SIDDHA RAJ RAI

DHANKUTA, May 4: The fire that started from a house at Belhara VDC of Dhankuta destroyed five buildings, including a school on Friday.

The fire, which spread rapidly in the village due to the storm, went out of control despite efforts of security personnel and local people to put out the fire.

The fire engines from Itahari and Dharan reached the village only after 55 minutes of the fire, said Chandra Dangol, a local.

The families of Daata Ram Wasti, Narvada Wasti, Kamal Shrestha, and Krishna Bahadur Shrestha have become homeless after the fire completely gutted their houses.

The fire has destroyed the properties worth around four million rupees, police said.
