KATHMANDU, May 4: The UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has expressed his willingness to visit Nepal sometime in near future despite his trip being cancelled earlier this year, a top Nepali politician quoted UN official as saying.
During his meeting with Speaker Subash Nembang in Kathmandu on Friday Tamrat Samuel, the special envoy of UN Secretary General conveyed Ban´s message that he was keen on visiting Nepal "soon". “I was told that Ban has expressed his willingness to visit Nepal,” Nembang told Republica.
Nembang said he suggested Sameul it would be appropriate for Ban to Nepal after the conclusion of peace process and promulgation of new constitution due for May 27. He apprised Sameul about the recent progress in peace and constitution drafting processes in Nepal.
Ban was originally scheduled to visit Nepal in early March but the visit was deferred as it conflicted with his other schedule and Nepal´s lack of preparation for an international conference on Lumbini. His rescheduled visit to Nepal for April 28 was also put off indefinitely at the last moment.
