KATHMANDU, May 7: Minister for Finance Barshaman Pun has said that the government is planning to increase investment in agricultural sector to achieve high economic growth rate.
Finance Minister Pun said, "Government is going to increase investment in this sector as agriculture is the main sector to fuel economic growth."
The government is preparing to allocate around Rs 14 billion to the agricultural sector in the coming fiscal year.
The government has allocated Rs 12 billion to the agricultural sector in the current fiscal year, Minister Pun said addressing a program organized on the occasion of the 21st anniversary of the Nepal Agricultural Research Council (NARC) on Wednesday.
On the occasion, the Finance Minister stressed the need of commercialization of the agriculture system of the present time.
Also speaking on the occasion, Vice-chairman of the National Planning Commission, Dr Deependra Bahadur Kshetri said preparations are underway to deploy an agricultural technician in each village development committee from the next fiscal year across the country.
