Banda for Mithila state meaningless: Mahato

REPUBLICA

JANAKPUR, May 7: Chairman of Sadbhawana Party (SP) Rajendra Mahoto has said the ongoing protests in Janakpur demanding Mithila state was meaningless.

Addressing a press conference in Janakpur on Monday Mahato said the protests seemed to be without any leadership. “It is really hard to find out who is leading the protest,” Mahato said. "I could not understand who is guiding the protests.”

He also accused Mithila State Struggle Committee of being irresponsible for staging the protests and added Mithila state was not possible by declaring banda.

He maintained that Madhes should not be divided in the name of Mithila state because Madhesi martyrs sacrificed their lives for Madhes cause. Mahato said that indefinite banda in Janakpur may spread hatred among peoples.

In a separate context, Mahato demanded formation of a high level probe panel on Janakpur bomb explosion.
