DHANGADHI, May 7: Search teams using heavy earth moving equipment and sniffer dogs on Monday pulled out four more bodies from areas along the Seti river in Kaski district which was hit by a devastating flash flood on Saturday.
The lastest finds brought the death toll to at least 21 with over 40 people still believed missing, the police said.
Police said body of Rama Pariyar was found near Bharati Higher Secondary School in Puranchaur of Kaski. Another unidentified woman´s body was found near Ghachok while two more bodies were found nearby.
Rescue teams of police and army were using four heavy earth moving equipment to search for the missing, possibly buried under the debris. On Monday sniffer dogs were also pressed into service.
Meanwhile Rabindra Poudel, spokesperson for Kaski District Police Office said as many as 44 were still missing. According to Poudel, people from the flood-affected area on Monday claimed some of their family members were also missing. Police are yet to verify their claims.
