REPUBLICA

KATHMANDU, May 9: CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal on Wednesday claimed the new constitution would be promulgated in the stipulated time and added that the focus will shift to economic development once the country gets the new constitution.

Speaking at a program organized to bid adieu to outgoing US ambassador to Nepal Scott H DeLisi, Khanal also expressed his optimism about getting continued support from the US for in the direction of making of the new constitution.

Likewise, Khanal expressed his gratitude to DeLisi for his effort to further strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries and wished him success during his tenure in Uganda, where he will next resume his ambassadorial duty.

According to Khanal´s personal secretary Rambabu Adhikari, the duo also discussed contemporary political issues, primarily the five-point deal forged among major political parties--UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and United Democratic Madhesi Front, Thursday night.
